Local legendary skater, Barry Strachan, just happens to be the direct relative of Les Strachan, (the original president of the Bulli Show Society), and he is proud to be invited to showcase his passion for skating at this year’s Bulli Show. He’ll be joined on the ramps by world renowned local skaters Sam Giles and Marty Girotto.
As president of the Northern Illawarra Skateboarders Alliance (NISA) Barry along with a volunteer group of local community members got together last year to highlight the need for, and raise awareness of, a skatepark in the northern suburbs of the Illawarra. The group’s involvement in this year’s Bulli Show on Saturday 31 and Sunday 1 June, gives an opportunity for the group to showcase the massive interest by all ages in skateboarding in the area, and to gather further local support.
Skateboarding demos by Sam Giles and Marty Girotto of the Kingpin Skate Team will be held 3 times a day over the course of the 2 days. There will also be an opportunity for local skaters to participate in coaching clinics run by Skateboarding Australia.
A raffle of skate related items will be held on the day to raise funds to assist with the ongoing costs of promoting the need for a skatepark. Skate decks hand painted by local artists will be available for sale, along with free stickers and iron-on transfers. Thanks to ongoing supporters Kingpin, Steel City Cycles, DP surfboards, Finbox, Gromz and Lovedoll Superstar.
