A campaign has been set up to oppose a Development Application which has been lodged with Wollongong Council to see vacant land alongside Coledale Hospital turned into sixteen building blocks.
The proposal for Wombarra Vista housing estate includes construction of a new road to connect with Lawrence Hargrave Drive just up from the current hospital entrance on a sharp corner of road.
The group behind the campaign says the process would see the removal of 40,000 cubic metres of soil and the destruction of natural habitat.
“This impacts all residents of 2515 as it would put additional strain on amenities and increase traffic issues,” they say. “The site is geo-technically unstable and the risk of landslides could result in the failure and closure of Lawrence Hargrave Drive.”
The development application can be viewed HERE
It’s on display until December 6, 2019.
