A fundraiser will be held through the Northern Illawarra tomorrow as a small group of super-fit athletes run from Coalcliff to North Wollongong, stopping to swim 500 meters in each of the ten ocean pools they pass!
That’s a 5km swim and a 25.7km run!
Organiser Rede Carney says he aims to raise money for children affected by the drought. “When farmers are doing it tough, the whole community does it tough,” says Rede. “Money dries up for school supplies and daily necessities.
“To my knowledge this has not been attempted before. What better way to raise community spirit in times when the climate is so harsh and unpredictable?”
If you see Rede and his crew, feel free to throw in a few dollars so they can make a difference in communities struggling under the weight of the drought.
