This year’s Spring into Corrimal marks 37 years of the festival- but it may not go ahead.
Increased security costs mean the festival needs more sponsors if it is to happen in 2018.
Organisers have issued a plea for support to save the largest fee family festival in the Illawarra.
The event is scheduled for September 9.
Chairperson Paul Boutlwood says the increasing costs are killing the event. “We have to have security measure in place to keep attendees safe,” he says. “For numerous years we have helped many charities and community groups within the local area to get their message into the public arena and it would be a shame to those groups and the public if we have to fold this event.
“Many people would be amazed to find out we get no funding from the Government to run this event and we raise the money we need through sponsorship and market stall holders.
“Spring Into Corrimal is organised by hard working volunteers and we are seeking any business that could help us with sponsorship to make sure the iconic event can flourish, for the joy of local families.
