Scarborough Public School teacher Emma Hutchinson has picked up a prestigious award for excellence at the recent State Education Minister’s and Secretary’s Awards for Excellence.
The annual awards showcase NSW public school students, teachers, staff and parents who have made major contributions to their school communities and serve as role models to their peers.
They also acknowledge schools that have embraced innovative programs to turn around school results and are changing the way education is delivered within the government system.
Emma has been honoured with the New South Wales award for ‘Excellence in Teaching’ , with the Department saying she’s an outstanding teacher with a strong focus on student wellbeing.
“She researches and plans her lessons to ensure differentiation is effective and targeted,” says a Department spokesperson.
“Students are really seeing growth as they are challenged to think deeply and engage in higher order thinking. I have never observed a teacher integrate curriculum outcomes in such an effective and big-picture way, while ensuring instruction is explicit and clear.”
