THIS year, with your help, from Burning Palms to Bulli Pass we can make the Sea Cliff Coast area the cleanest region in NSW, if not Australia.
Step 1: Circle and save the date Sunday, March 3.
Step 2: Jump on the Cleanup Australia website www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au
Either volunteer to join a cleanup site or register a new site. If you register a new site, you will be sent a Clean Up Kit which includes rubbish bags. Your site will be automatically registered online, enabling new volunteers to join you.
Step 3: If your cleanup area is large and you may possibly have too many rubbish bags to dispose of yourself, then contact the Wollongong Council who will arrange to collect them. (See the Cleanup website for details on liaising with Council or call Council direct on 4227 7111.)
If you have any inquiries or need assistance call 1800 282 329 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
In Helensburgh, the Helensburgh and District Landcare have made the process even simpler for residents. On the day, register at the Old Mine Surgery, 78 Parkes Street, Helensburgh, between 9 am and 1 pm. Then clean up an area of your own choice or they will suggest an area for you. (Make sure you wear a hat, sturdy shoes and gloves).
In Helensburgh, for more information, phone Mr Sean Johnson on 4294 8159 or go to their website www.helensburghlandcare.org.au
On Sunday, March 3, the Sea Cliff Coast will shine even brighter, courtesy of a small idea sown by Mr Ian Kiernan back in 1989. An idea which has grown and spread across from our coast to the west coast with the support and technology of the Cleanup Australia team.
