What’s better than a Sunday morning walk along the beach? Not much. How about doing it with a team from the Flame Tree Community Food Co-op and leaving it in better shape than when we arrived?
Yes, it’s the Coop’s first Beach Clean Up.
“The council has been supportive in giving us bags, and sharps containers in case we find any nasty items but also they will be taking away everything we collect including recyclables.”said Cath Blakey, director and volunteer at Flametree Community Food Coop.
“We want it to be fun and not too arduous, just like a stroll along the beach, picking up whatever, and then will get a good snap of it at the end and have a picnic plus a swim to clean off.”
The group will meet at about 9am on Sunday 1st December at Sharkey’s Beach, Coledale. Empty bulk produce bags will be supplied to fill with whatever human-made debris is found.
Everyone and anyone is welcome to participate. Come along to meet and get to know other coop members.
