Food lovers will rejoice the return of Hart’s Gourmet Produce Market to Thirroul this Sunday 19th May, after its successful debut last month…. this gourmet food market nestled next to the Old Post Office on Lawrence Hargrave Drive, showcases a line-up of the Hart’s favourite foodies and local producers.
Kate and Jessica Hart moved to Stanwell Park from Heathcote nine years ago, and have since opened to cafes in the Shire, namely The Jack of Harts and Jude in Engadine, and Left Bower in Sutherland. The success of those cafes has led the girls to focus their attention further south with the market, but also to then develop that further as a cafe and coffee roastery on that same site within the next six to twelve months.
“We’ve all got big families and we all work together – we wanted to have a market that was different to others in that it was all about the food.” says Kate, “Everyone that is there is from within 50-100km that grows their own produce or makes it in the area.”
“At the April market, we had a lot of people come down from Sydney and also from further south, it was a really good mix of people and all very excited to have something like this in Thirroul – it was a really lovely family day out.”
“This month we’ve got the local honey lady, a wine producer from Canyonleigh, a wagyu beef producer from Gerringong, some girls who do some beutiful crafty things from the shire, organic fruit and veggies, some lovely cheeses from Small Cow Farm in Robertson, and some music from local artists.”
“We roast our own Australian grown organic coffee called “The Big Marquee”, named after my grandfather’s tent that we would all stay in down at Lake Illawarra as children.”
Hart’s Gourmet Produce Market is held on the third Sunday of every month.
