The very popular Wild Rumpus Suitcase Market is back and will be happening all again on Saturday 20th July 12 -3pm at Thirroul Community Centre.
The market is an opportunity for emerging and established artists, crafters and enthusiasts of handmade, repurposed and upcycled goods to sell their wares. Stallholders simply pack their products into a suitcase and turn up!
“We had such a hugely positive response after the first Suitcase Market in April, we decided to turn it into a regular, quarterly event” says Wild Rumpus co-creator and organiser Caitlin Marshall. “We were amazed at how many crafters and artists of exceptional quality came out of the woodwork for the last market, it’s a really exciting and fun way to showcase them and make it easy for them to test out their products. This time, stallholder spots have been snapped up so quickly!”
The market is indoors, and this time features stalls from local indie design stores Milk Thieves, Kittipilla and Austinmer designers Drawstring Handmade. There will also be a cake and tea stall, badgemaking, raffle,a kids corner and a great funky atmosphere.
Wild Rumpus is a new skill-sharing social enterprise that aims to build a resourceful, creative and sustainable community. It also aims to provide platforms for creative and skilled people to build their profile, generate income and showcase the local talent here in Wollongong. Wild Rumpus curates and delivers fun affordable classes taught be creative locals, and the Spring Series will be announced at the Suitcase Market.
“So far all our Winter Classes are selling out. It’s been fantastic to see everyone get on board and affirm what we already knew – that Wollongong is a vibrant, creative cultural hub full of talent and skill” says Ms Marshall.
