This Sunday promises to usher in Winter in style with Sunshine Coast Electro/Dub outfit Dubarray, bringing their unique ambient sounds to Coalcliff.
2012 was a massive year for this Sunshine Coast dark horse electro/dub act that exploded onto the scene with a fresh sound and a debut album. The Sunshine Coast audiences got a glimpse of Dubarray at their album release in June of 2012 at the Blackbox theatre in Nambour where the band collaborated with Katz Body Art and Red Boss Productions to deliver a spectacular show of artistic collaboration. Before even giving a glimpse to the rest of Australia the band set off over sea’s on a massive 6 month European tour. The tour sparked a demand for the band who now base themselves in Switzerland for 6 months of the year while also working the hard to develop Australian support base.
Inspired by a range of electro/dub/house and trip-hop artists such as Thievery Corporation, Groove Armada and Portishead and following in the footsteps of their Local Australian peer artists such as OKA, Dub FX & Tijuana Cartel, Dubarray have molded their own unique flavor to spawn a fusion live electro sound that is soulful and contagious and is sending live audiences into a dancing fanatical frenzy. The band received recognition within Australia for their unique sounds at last year’s Music OZ awards being nominated for 4 awards and were featured in the top 10 for electronic, alternative and video. Since then the band have also been featured on Triple J and have been back and forth between Australia and Europe with a demanding tour schedule.
Dubarray are now working on their new album, which will be released in July this year. The band will be following it up with a massive European and Australian tour, which they plan to return to the East Coast in October/November. “This small run of East Coast shows is to help make people aware of the Dubarray sound. Many of our peers such as Caravana Sun & Declan Kelly love the Bombie Bar and highly recommend it, so we thought now was a good time to bring the sound and test run it before coming back later in the year with the new album”, says producer Brett Gadenne.
So get ready Coalcliff as Dubarray bring their electrifying dub sounds to the Bombie Bar on Sunday June 1st for their 2014 East Coast tour. This is a special BYO event. Check out their website at www.dubarray.com for more details.
