With Mothers Day around the corner, it’s time to step up from the usual flowers, or box of chocolates, and really spoil the Supermums in your life with the gift of laughter and fun.
Happening on May 18, ‘MotherLove’ is a unique yoga and meditation retreat day designed specifically for mums, by mums. The retreat gives mothers something they really need – a well deserved soul nourishment.
It aims to provide mothers with a rare opportunity to have a fun, invigorating day to themselves.
“We know so many working mums in the community, and many with their own businesses. To do it all, you need to look after yourself. We want to bring mums together and give them practical, takeaway tools for self-care and stress management,” says Louise.
“We’re also collaborating with local mumpreneurs who offer relevant products or services, so it’s a really ‘mum-centred’ event at all levels,” she explains.
Louise Charman-James moved to Helensburgh in 2009. An experienced meditation teacher, Louise is also bright and enthusiastic about being active in the local community. After noticing there was not much available in the area, she saw the opportunity in starting up a meditation group for women in 2011.
Louise introduced the community to something a little different with her meditation group Soul Signature. With a background as a singer, Louise loves the meditative practice of chanting. She uses sound in her Empowerment Sessions. “Chanting and sounds support clients to shift emotional and mental blocks in life,” she explains.
Louise discovered a kindred spirit in Sharon Longridge, who is a classical yoga teacher and wellness expert. Sharon has over 10 years of teaching experience, with a particular focus on bringing mindfulness practices to the workplace.
They both have two young children and live around the corner from each other. The pair often help each other out, carpooling and picking up the children from school. Their bond is reflected in their shared passion for supporting families to live happy, fulfilled and peaceful lives.
Louise and Sharon love living in Helensburgh and being actively involved in the local community as teachers and mothers. They know firsthand the challenges of being working mothers and see many other women doing the same.
It was this experience that inspired the pair to combine their skills and offer the MotherLove retreat.
The retreat is on this Sunday May 18. You can purchase tickets and gift vouchers here. It’s sure to be an enriching, useful and different gift for your mum – or yourself!
The MotherLove retreat is set in the tranquil bush lands of the Govinda Valley Retreat Centre in Otford. The day will feature yoga, meditation, mindfulness, chanting, laughter and delicious vegetarian food, plus lucky door prizes and pamper products.
