Helensburgh’s Temple Rd will remain open the public.
An application had been lodged with Wollongong City Council by the Sri Venkateswara Temple to close the road and purchase the land. The proposal drew significant opposition from the community with local residents objecting to losing the 100 year old road and citing concerns over traffic and bushfires.

Wollongong Council says as of yesterday, Thursday August 2, the idea has been oficially put to bed- thanks to vocal locals.
