So once again there is construction work at Austinmer Beach.
When will it end?
Well, according to a spokesperson for Wollongong Council, all the workmen should be out of there by Christmas!
Firstly, the pool:-
“Currently the contractor is continuing work on the centre causeway of the pools. They have recently completed capping work on the sea-side wall of the northern pool. Council anticipates the work on the Northern pool will be completed by Christmas, provided there is favourable tide, sea and swell conditions.”
And what’s happening at the playground?
“Austinmer playground is being replaced. Council has budgeted more than $1 million this financial year for play space renewal, upgrades and replacement across the city. This is on top of approximately $1.5 million spent last financial year on play spaces.
“It’s part of Council’s commitment to reinvest in valued infrastructure and to offer well-maintained, high-quality play spaces across the city.
“The new Austinmer playground is being installed next to the existing playground and is expected to be finished before Christmas. Once the new equipment is open, the existing equipment will be removed and replaced with turf.”
