The Thirroul Community Gardeners were the first local community garden group to take advantage of Wollongong Council’s new garden policy and are celebrating their 1st anniversary.
“Thirroul Community Garden is a group of people that came together almost 3 years ago – people who were concerned about growing food is a sustainable and organic way.” said Julie Reed, “It took a while to find the best spot but we were given a parcel of land at High Street Reserve in Thirroul to care for and to grow food on.”
12 months ago they had their first AGM and by September 2012 the group had its official opening at the garden.
