It’s time to talk toilets!
Wollongong City Council will review its 104 Council-owned public toilet facilities with a draft strategy to look at opening hours, the use of pop-up urinals in popular night time areas, involving the community in art and graffiti projects, temporary / mobile CCTV around 24-hour public toilets, frequency and timing of cleaning, and accessibility.
So now is the time to have your say!
If you feel strongly about toilets near you or feel something needs to be changed, you have until until 22 February 2019.
In the five years to June 2018, Council spent $9.5 million on the renewal, upgrade or creation of around 25 public toilets across the city and there are plans to upgrade or build new public toilets in the Northern Illawarra, including at Austinmer Beach and Baird Park in Stanwell Park.
Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said Council is “committed to creating a liveable city that provides a high quality experience for its residents and visitors, which includes public toilets that are well located, safe, clean, easy to find and accessible for the community
The draft strategy is available on council’s website and at libraries.
