In the early hours of Saturday night/Sunday morning, she created an online campaign to lobby Wollongong Council to introduce a levy for plastic
bags in the northern suburbs.
“The introduction of a levy in Ireland is a great example – Wollongong could achieve a similar result, with many flow-on benefits to our community and the environment.”
“If the campaign is a raging success in Wollongong, then the plan is to roll-out this levy across the entire Illawarra and beyond.”
“Already we have the support of Councillors Greg Petty and Jill Merrin. We trust more councillors will come on board, as word begins to spread that this is an issue that’s important to the residents of the area.”
