Scarborough Boardrider’s young surfers are making their mark.
Scarborough’s Finley McLaren and Aimee Jeffries have been named ‘Most Valuable Surfers’ at the recent Pines Surfing Academy Insterschool Challenge.
Austinmer’s Finley steered the TIGS team to victory in the event at The Farm.
130 high school students representing eight Illawarra schools took to the water for the competition.
Fin scored 9.2 and 9.4 on his last two waves-the highest scoring waves of the day- to claim victory for TIGS- PLUS he’s been named Most Valuable Male Surfer.
Finley is making his mark on the whole junior surfing world. He recently won the junior division of the School Regional Titles and finished 3rd in the U16’s and U18’s at the Werri Slash and made it through to the semi finals of the Billabong Oz Grom Cup at Coffs Harbour and the semis of the Australian Open Surfing Comp at Manly beach.
Wombarra’s Aimee is performing consistently at Boardriders Pointscores and is now making an impact in local surf competitions.
