The Holy Cross School Fete is on again this Saturday 16th March, and apart from raising much needed funds to upgrade and provide new technology to students, which has become a fundamental aspect of modern education, it also reminds us of the essence of our community which is a sense of belonging.
“The “We-Connect” theme summarises what the Holy Cross Fete aims to do each and every year… connect us together…” says Carina Herbert, who is one of the coordinators of this years event, “No matter what school, what church or religious belief, or what family dynamic, we are all better together.”
Eleven year old, Georgia O’Neill designed the logo for the 2013 event, which will include the newest gadgets as raffle prizes such as an iPad Mini, plus lots of other excellent rewards like an eight course degustation dinner for two at Rocksalt Bar & Grill on the beach at Wollongong.
“We are presenting an “old” technology museum… people are loaning us their old gadgets once considered the “in thing” for the rest of us to wonder over!” says Carina, “Come and take a look – you may see something from when you were a kid or something that brings back a great memory.”
Visitors to the fete will be asked to write their name on a piece of paper that will form a “link” in a giant paper chain.
“The best stalls are back (as nominated by Holy Cross students) from last years fete, such as Chocolate Toss, Putt for Dough, face painting, Craft Corner (including a colouring-in competition), White Elephant (pre-loved treasures), Books, Plants, Coffee and Devonshire Tea, Tasty BBQ, and the Chocolate Wheel, plus carnival rides and live entertainment in full swing all day.”
