Wombarra Pool currently resembles ocean soup!
Filled with seaweed, the pool is NOT the picture postcard for summer fun.
A spokesman for Wollongong Council says they are aware of the problem, however Mother Nature is to blame.
Workers half-emptied the pool last week, however felt it was pointless to complete the job because there’s so much weed sitting on the nearby rock-shelf. This has the potential to wash straight back into the pool given the first heavy swell.
Council says they’re waiting for the tides to wash that seaweed off the rocks before they get in and empty the pool to clear out the seaweed.
Council says all of the city’s rock pools are inspected weekly and cleaned out every 4-6 weeks, with extra attention paid to steps and landings which may become slippery.
