With an outstanding 2012/2013 season for the Northern Illawarra surf clubs under their belt, it’s now time for the crews of the surf boats to de-brief at the Winter Surfboat Convention.
The Annual winter surf boat convention is held at a range of different locations and this time Thirroul Bowling Club will host the event on Saturday 27th July including complementary drinks, barbecue and live entertainment.
The 2013 Winter Surf Boat convention is
a chance to get together and talk about the years achievements and whats coming up.
Long standing patron and avid rower Lincoln Costello from Bulli said, “Everyone gets together from the Illawarra and far south coast – its a big annual catch-up and a chance to re-hash and over some food and drink – there’s entertainment and then the formalities, including presentations on the best crews and how the regions have gone over the year at the Australian and World Titles.”
Glenn McMillan who is also a rower and the manager at Thirroul Bowling Club said, “Three regions make up the Surf Boat Convention – the Illawarra, South Coast and the Far South Coast, stretching all the way down to Eden. This year the Illawarra did extremely well – our under 19’s won the world title in their events. Austinmer veterans won branch, state, aussies and world titles which is an incredible achievement. Under 19’s smashed it in south Australia winning the world titles for that bracket.”
The event encompasses the Illawarra, South Coast and far South Coast regions – RSVP by Sunday 14th July.
