Seven local churches across four denominations, representing more than 1000 people in the Northern Illawarra are working together to present a series of public events that tackle some of the big questions that people commonly have about the Christian faith.
The ten part series called ‘Towards Belief’ has been created in response to research conducted across Australia by McCrindle, one of the country’s leading market research companies.
Producers, Olive Tree Media, analysed that research and set about talking with over 30 of the world’s leading Christian scientists, academics and philosophers, to grapple with the 10 most common issues Australians have regarding faith, including suffering, its relationship with science, and abuse within the church.
From this, they created the series of videos called ‘Towards Belief”.
Olive Tree media spokesman and presenter Karl Faase says
Towards Belief deals with ‘belief blockers’.
“We talk with some of the best Christian minds / thinkers across the globe,” says Karl, “to give those with serious philosophical questions responses that have both academic rigour and accessible information.”
Austinmer Anglican Church will link up with Bulli Uniting, Bulli Anglican , Woonona Baptist, Woonona Presbyterian, Corrimal Anglican and Corrimal Uniting Churches to present three of the ten topics over the month of May at Bulli Workers Club.
Wendy Potts, speaking on behalf of the coalition of churches says they are excited to be working together to bring such world class material to the table. “These are huge questions,” she says, “and they deserve thoughtful answers. This event offers the opportunity for open and respectful discussion, so we are keen to make this as accessible as possible.”
