Huge congratulations to two Northern Illawarra athletes – about to face some of the toughest competition of their careers.
Thirroul’s Madeline Hills and Ryan Gregson from Bulli have both been selected to represent Australia at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in April.
Madeline will compete in the 5000m after an outstanding performance at the 2018 Australian Athletics Championships on the Gold Coast last weekend.
Madeline competed in the 3000m steeplechase at the Rio Olympics, finishing in seventh place.
Ryan will race in the 1500m after his winning performance at The Australian Athletics Championships. Ryan finished ninth in the 1500m at the Rio Olympics, and was the first Australian man in 40 years to make the final of that event.
The Commonwealth Games get underway on April 4 and run until April 15.
