Northern Illawarra junior snowboarders produced some excellent results in a string of competitions over the last week.
Otford teenager Eve Dowley, who is studying her HSC through Wollongong High School for the Performing Arts, came 12th in the world junior championships Big Air competition in Cardrona, New Zealand on Friday. You can read more about Eve here..
Edmund Rice year 10 students, Austinmer’s Brayden Jelley and Wombarra’s Shay Harper both took out State Titles at the NSW inter schools events in Thredbo.

Shay, in his second year as a term 3 member of Snowy Mountains Grammar School’s Elite Snowsports Academy trains five days a week at Perisher. He laid down a big scoring run of 91 out of 100 to claim the State Slopestyle event. It was Shay’s first time on the podium for a solo event at any level.
He has gone up several levels in the past year thanks to the coaching of Mikey Williams at an airbag camp in Japan, and with the help of Perisher’s American slopestyle guru Stan Wu.
Brayden trains in the Thredbo Full Time Race Program and came from second after his first run to claim a thrilling victory in the snowboard cross event.
The team from Stanwell Park Public school has also had a cracking week, bringing home a team gold in the Div 4 Boarder X, and an individual gold in the same event. They also claimed an individual silver in the Boarder GS (Kai Rennie, Hamish Bell and Charlie Tanner)
Mia Rennie, 15, from Stanwell Park and Illawarra Sports High is also representing Australia alongside Eve Dowley in the Freeski Big Air, Slopestyle and Half Pipe.
