This weekend gives you a chance to witness amazing Freerunning, with a Parkour competition to be held at Burgh Healthy Hub in Helensburgh.
According to Wikipedia, “Parkour is a discipline based on military obstacle course training, where participants get from one place to another, usually in an urban environment, in the fastest and most efficient way possible.”
It includes running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping and rolling and can make a mother cover her eyes and hold her breath!
Around 50 kids are expected to take part in the event, which will be judged by Red Bull International Parkour athlete Abudi Alsagoff. He will also do a demonstration and run a free workshop on the day.
Burgh has spent the week building an outdoor course to accommodate the event. They’ve been running classes for more than a year, teaching running wall flips and ‘side saults’.
The competition will be held on Sunday September 17 from 12-3pm. It is open to athletes from seven years of age. You can register at Burgh.com.au
